The Duchy in Detroit with Lazarus & Blue
March 23rd
Full Day Workshop
-
This hands-on beginner’s class covers safety, style (looking cool), negotiation, how to evaluate the skill of a top or bottom, and more.
The class will cover:
The 4 fundamental knots:
Good for tying two things together so that each thing is in its own cuff: wrists, ankles, knees, ankle to thigh, person to person, any part of a person directly to another thing…
The Load-bearing Lark’s Head Double Column (demo)
Good for creating a single band or cuff around anything: wrist, ankle, thigh, chest, waist, hips, etc.
This is the starting point for many ties. We will demo a few simple examples:
The Unchastity Belt aka “Crotch Rope” – A fun teasing tool
Stirrup Heel Tie – “No, I’ll decide when the heels come off.”
A rope Leash
The Shinju, a simple chest harness (demo)
The Somerville Bowline, an excellent forward-tension single-column knot
A Simple Box Tie & a modification for people with flexibility challenges (demo)
(demo) Due to time constraints, selected items above will be demonstration-only, but attendees will be given detailed references for self-guided practice after the class.

Rope Corsets, featuring the Chain Stitch Demi-Corset
This class will demonstrate a simple method for creating a waist cincher/demi-corset on your partner.
This is a hands-on class and you will leave with practical knowledge and skills.
We will cover:
• The core technique
• How to extend rope when you run out
• Optional elements to add greater stability and flair (like garters or shoulder straps)
• Variations that will produce slightly different looks
Target audience (beginner, intermediate, advanced)

We will cover 5 knots and techniques that are great for rapid capture.
During the first half we will go over how to tie three variations of one of my favorite little-known bondage knots -- the Prusik -- and practice several very cool applications. This knot can be used to secure someone inescapably to a bed or bondage frame in less than a minute. A modified version can be used to make belly-chain style rope handcuffs that are very effective in containing eels (people who like to struggle and slip out of rope bondage). I have met many people proudly bearing the "I-can-escape-from-anything" title that had to add "...except that one time" after they had been introduced to this knot.
This class will also feature a rope-only device that allows a rope to become tighter but will not allow it to loosen. But it does so in a way that will not cinch down and threaten your sub.
The second half of the class features two techniques for rapidly applying rope to a victim... er... partner. One technique allows you to tie a knot around a wrist or ankle when you only have one hand to tie with. The other technique comes from hojojitsu roots and is a sort of arm-binder/chest harness that can be tied onto a person in less than a minute. It will give them something to think about whilst you drag them away to your next bit of evil.
This is a practical, hands-on session that starts with a demonstration (to get your attention), moves on to a practical lecture and then to a practice session with high involvement by the instructor to ensure that the new skill is cemented in your mind before you leave.
