This is a very special Friday LEAP and something that doesn't come our way often.
Come join @Ropeosaur and @Lilservicegoblin as they share the basics of body bamboo. Let them guide you through your first body bamboo rope experience as they teach important safety considerations, helpful hitches, and attachment methods that will open up a new world of rope experiences for you and your tying partner. After going over some examples of attaching bamboo to the body, we will they providing demonstrations of some fun predicaments to try out while also encouraging attendees to create their own! More details below.
This class is intended to be accessible to all rope experience levels. Knowledge of hojo cuffs, single and double columns will be helpful to the successful participation of this class, but not required. (These will be covered in the basics and fundamentals portion of the evening from 6:15-7:00.)
Suspension techniques will be taught, with the assumption of your knowledge of suspension safety. Please suspend at your own risk. Please do not tie beyond your skill set. IF this is your first suspension, we ask that you keep it to partials or completely on the ground, and take another class focused on suspension safety before attempting anything beyond what we go over in class.
Oblige will be providing bamboo to be used for class and practice. You will need your rope kit including your safety sheers, and a suggested minimum 5-8 full lengths of rope (~25-30 feet each), and some half lengths. If you need more rope, Oblige will have plenty to rent or buy, including POSH up-lines. We recommend bringing clothing that can cover the body (particularly the ankles, think thick tall socks) as an option to protect the bony prominences from the bamboo while you practice creating tension while lashing bamboo to the skin.
It is also gets cold in the space durning instruction periods. Consider bringing a blanket to keep yourself warm.
Doors are at 6:00. We will host an informal "Basics and Fundamentals" section at 6:15 for that are brand new to rope or need a solid refresher of the basics.
This class will be part see & do (tie along) and part demo.
